Round 5 Results

Post by gerry on Sun Apr 29, 2012 12:31 pm

This video (Henri the Cat) summarises how I feel at the moment:

Anyway, get over it. Some massive scores this weekend:

Warthogs 321 def by Heroes 405.
Could someone swab this Heroes team? This is a massive score compared to last week.18 tackles helps although Scott Selwood did get BOG for the Warthogs coach. Your team might require some forensic analysis to work out what went wrong, Milnee. (Hint: start with your markers)

Tigers 397 d Wolves 327.
Tigers are moving swiftly up the ladder with a great win this week. Liam Picken as an All Star is working for the Tiges although it was Mitch Robinson with a BOG for the Wolves and the newly upgraded Clancee Pearce looked good for Fremantle and the Wolves. Need some consistent goal kickers, methinks.

Raptors 426 def Gladiators 350.
Raptors win the April Premiership with a whipping of his old (and current rival) the Unhappiers. Tom Rockliff is starring in the One Heart votes with an MVP award this week. What is scary is that he got this score with one goal from his goal-kickers! To the May premiership....

Bangers 336 def by Ridgebacks 409.
How the mighty have fallen...mightily! Dane Swan's 109 All star point set the stage and Lenny Hayes and Ryan Griffen got the Ridge-train over the line. Matthew "I suck at marking" Suckling and Zac "I'm a ruckman, not a marker" Clarke let the Big Banger Theory down... in a big way. He is likely to rebound so watch out next week...Maulers.

Terriers 364 def by Maulers 380.
Thought I was in this when Van Berlo went down but Walker, Scott (not D.) Thompson and Justin "Ned Kelly" Westoff killed me in the last game. Nice return to the All Star position for Kade Simpson though - one of the few positives from a long weekend of footy. Too good, all-round Maulers!

Vipers 473 d Mustangs 346.
Looks like Jase will be sleeping with the dogs tonight after making the Mustangs seem second rate. Still they had to lose sometime. Remarkable 119 points from Josh Kennedy. The snakes are another team steaming up the ladder, not at all hurt by a good average points for.

Could we have some feedback as soon as possible about how the partial lockout went?
If people are happy, we then need to decide when to invoke this type of lockout again.

and finalise what happens in the bye rounds....

Gerry, think there might be a problem with the Gladiators score.

And no Pez that is not a cue for you to stick the boot in.....

Hit the Zoom in button to make it bigger.

BTW, the cat video is quite amusing...in a French kinda way.

I really have no comments on the partial lockout from the point of view that it didnt effect me as I had no Essendon or Collingwood players playing. However I do think its a good idea and will make selections easier in future. Would be pretty surprised if anyone didnt like it.

What I will say is that I felt that it (unfairly?) advantaged me in that I was able to adjust my All Stars (mainly) based on the fact that I had two play on Anzac Day that did well...by that I mean I could afford to weaken my All Stars if I wanted to as I had good scores from Pendlebury and Swan.

Equally had Swan and Pendlebury had poor games I could bring in a gun AS just to fill the void.

You know... that age old issue of 'Do I play three gem AS's or play two and a 'so-so' AS in the third spot so I can strengthen a category?'...well that wasnt an issue as I could almost change it up or down based on the Anzac Game if that makes sense?

Other than that I think it works well.

I think you just happen to be in a fortunate position with two all stars scoring significant points before you needed to place the rest of your team.
I would have been in the same boat if Howlett had had 20 tackles... Rolling Eyes

partial lockout was great, didn't utilise it, but would have been extremely useful in round 1 though
