Results for Round 19 (the almost too cruel round)
It is with heavy heart (and even heavier kidneys) that I report this week results:
Warthogs 336 def by Ridgebacks 447
Ridgies way too good for Warthogs, who bow out for season 2012 with the wooden spoon and the poison chalice of first choice in the PSD for 2013. Ridgebacks extend their Points For tally and as Minor Premiers, look the team to beat. Handy score from Pavlich helped.
Tigers 372 def Bangers 356
The Buddy-less Tigers win again and secure fifth spot. Big game from Jobe was enough to take the One Heart Medal points as well. Could this be the year of the Tiger? I hope not as having three premierships over the big lug has always been a good way to end many footy arguments. Bangers end up in third spot although they might have to compete in a finals without Jude Bolton!
Raptors 379 def Maulers 327
Scott Thompson and Shane Tuck uncharacteristically quiet for Mauled this week but they have done enough to finish in fourth spot. Raptors win despite the efforts of Brogan, Kossie and Josh Hill. Hmmm, some goal-kicking selection dilemmas for a coach who usually crows about the number of goal-kickers in his team. Raptors win a HGA as Minor Round runners-up.
Gladiators 420 def Mustangs 411
Wow. What a game! What's worse, there was a chance that if the Mustangs lost, they could be out of the finals! However another strong Zorro performance and lots from the ruck (46 hitouts) sees the Mustangs cling on the eighth place by four Points For! As I said at the beginning, it would unjust for a team to score 411, lose AND get kicked out of the finals. Nice work, Josie. Good luck next week against the Tigers. Gladiators up and down like yo-yos - but this isn't a bad score as you are entering into the first round of the finals. Just hope they don't rest Ablett.
Wolves 299 def Terriers 324.
This score is a sad reflection on the season of both teams. A score nearer 400 would have seen the Terriers into the eight - but we were not good enough, and the truth be told, didn't deserve it. Bye-bye Wolves. Is this Bec's swan song as a coach?
Heroes 359 def Vipers 377.
A good win from the snakes sees them sneak into 7th place. Not a bad position for a team that was meant to be relaxing down on the Gold Coast having a Mad Monday celebration. Heroes out of the finals and are looking to 2013 - assuming the coffee shop doesn't take up too much time.
So the finalist are (first named teams have the HGA):
Ridgebacks v Maulers
Raptors v Bangers
Tigers v Mustangs
Gladiators v Vipers.
Given the fluctuations in the scores this season, any one of the eight teams could win it from here.
Good luck all.
Now, when are we having the 2013 PSD?????
Nobody is leaving until we lock in a date...

Incredible way to finish the regular season for the Vipers, Mustangs and Terriers. Hard to believe that despite losing and Terriers and Vipers winning that Josie still makes it. Unlucky Gerry, hard to believe that you missed out.

Well, you know how I feel about luck!
More to the point, if you and Josie keep winning during the finals, you may not meet until the Grand Final!

It would make for an interesting week in the Williams household, but the chances of that happening is slim to say the least.
In fact I will treat everyone to a holiday in Italy if Josie and I make the final. And no tanking!
