Locking my Retained Players

Post by Macca on Sat Dec 19, 2009 11:02 am

1. When can I do it? (I guess I need to wait until the AGM voting is over...as the numbers may change?)
2. Can I trade immediately? I have an agreed trade ready to announce.

Any chance you could wait whilst we catch our breath?
I think it would be straight after the AGM voting.
ie Monday 12:01am if you want.
Does it include draft picks?

Big call.
Must include Gibbsey or Swan.
Either that or you are already using your unborn as a sweetner!

Lets just say it involves one of the games very best.
Our game or the actual game.

It's done too.

No reneging, no crap.

Obviously we need to wait until the voting has concluded...the number of retained players may change.

On that matter....it is a little concerning that we keep changing this number. Some coaches may trade away players that they believe they cannot keep due to numbers, only to find out they may have been able to keep them after all.

Macca...you have been talking about locking in certain rules for, say, 3 years?

Your thoughts?

I think they should have been locked years ago.
For the same reasons you suggest.

Moratorium is not a dirty word.

Nope not Gibbs, would take a lot to make me pull the trigger on that gold mine.

Hey, Im not blaming you for anything. In fact, I voted for your proposal.

My main concern is that, as mentioned, I may trade away some players at year's end, believing that I wont be able to keep them due to the number of retained players allowed.

I bet next year we increase that number again!

Oh, fuck it! I was gonna propose that we have a list of 40, not 35.

We need lists of 40 with the Rookie Draft anyway.
35 - Senior List
5 - Rookie List

Re: Locking my Retained Players

Yep, that will be OK I reckon. I guess picks 36-40 are usually going to be players that may not play much of a role in their first year anyway.

And if they do you can always drop a player from your senior list to accommodate them, right?

Am I correct in saying that once you sway a rookie for a senior player, that dropped player cannot go back into the senior squad? I should probably go back and read the proposal....was that covered?

Yes, it was covered.
A dropped senior player is no longer a part of your list.
