I am not so concerned about my first pick (effective pick 4) but after that...wow, where do you go? pale

I have a few holes in my team but by the time I get my to second pick (effective pick 20) it could be all over. Suspect

I better study hard...

Damn you Retained Players!

The PSD used to be a really exciting event (not that it isnt now)...as the heat was really on and there was a real surprise element...but now...

I guess I am looking at this from a different prospective. I think a shallow draft helps those that have done their homework. Therefore rewarding those that put in and makes it harder to draft a great team.

All good things IMO, you can no longer coast through a PSD.

This is true...but the anticipation of the old open drafts was something to behold. When will you fill your rucks? How valuable are specialists? Which category is most important?

I know what your saying but if anything people are less certain now when to draft certain types of players as they know its a shallow draft. Should make some very interesting picks IMO.

I think certain players will be taken a lot earlier than usual ie maybe a knights for example. Also as a nice sub plot will be interesting to see a few teams take the youth route and which one gets in first.

The problem is, taking young guns in the first tier makes them very hard to retain.
Lets say Scully is taken in round 3...who will keep him there the year after?

Well I would. Ok lets look at this, take Milnee for example. He has retained Hall, Brad Johnson and Swallow in his top tier. Realistically, Swallow is the only one worth keeping beyond this season. Why would he not draft a Trengrove and Scully etc as he would be a easily be able to retain them next season?

I think he would be mad not to take the same route I did a few years back. Unless of course he honestly feels he can win it this year.

Yes, I remember the big "Ruck" runs that somebody would start and then everybody joined in....and you would be left cursing because you were at the end of the run.

Im sure the same thing would have been said a few seasons ago when I drafted Gibbs, Murphy, Palmer etc in the first tier.

Once you decide to rebuild you either go whole hog or your wasting your time. I honestly think there are a few teams that should go down the youth path, but I think you might be right and think that no one will have the balls for it.

I think we even called them a 'ruckus'.

They were fascinating drafts as everyone went in trying to fill gaps. How and when you filled them made it a fun filled, tense few hours.

Your whole season rested on it.

Now...hmmmm.
