**All herein is subjective. Please take with hefty grain of salt.

And so goes another draft, the 11th of our mighty league.
The game has endured. The coaches remain hungry for the ultimate glory.

But what of the lists for 2010? Who are the powerhouses? Who is in rebuild? Who rises from the depths in 2010? Who starred on draft day? Who stumbled?

The PSD draft of 2010 has perhaps offered the shallowest of talent pools ever, especially given the ever expanding retained lists. It has been suggested that 2010 has presented the toughest draft of our history, yet I would argue that a lot can be predicted from the lists as they stand right now. They tell a story of not one year, but a genuine body of work.

    Lets have a look...

    Bangers

    List Grade pre PSD: B-
    Drafting 2010: D

What the?: Mark Blake, (Geelong) @ 2, Levi Greenwood (North Melbourne) @ 5. Both players may offer something, but it is clear that Banger has payed well over the odds for both. Blake is not assured a game at the Cattery, given the return of Brad Ottens (and the fact Blake is a spud of huge proportions). Greenwood at five is utterly perplexing. Anthony Rock labelled Levi Greenwood "one player who needs to put his brain in before games".

    Cracker! Ayce Cordy (W Bullies) @ 34
Cordy is tall, mobile and genuinely talented. If he gets a game I suspect he will make himself a genuinely strong part of the team. If!

    List Snapshot
There is no doubt that the Bangers will be thereabouts. Having the luxury of Bartel, Chapman, Sandilands, Boak and Power will ensure he is competitive. That said I am now having severe doubts about his ability to sustain competitiveness with the emerging powers, especially if any of his guns go down. Paul Chapman for mine, is teetering on injury more often than not.

Premiership Clock (in 'Premiership contention' being 12, 'total rebuild needed' being 6ish, 'nearing competitive and on the up' being 9ish, 'past it with decisions to be made' being 3ish)
I would have the Bangers at 1.30am. He will cause plenty of heartaches to others, but as many to himself. His list relies on too few and lacks any class in goals or marks. I suspect 2010 will be a year of angst for the big man. His list is on the decline for mine...

    Overall rank: 4-6

** I will update/edit this as I add each team

    Gladiators

    List Grade pre PSD: A
    Drafting 2010: A-

What the?: Michael Riscitelli (Bris) @ 7, Christopher Mayne (Fremantle) @ 12
Both of these boys have talent, no doubt. But one would need to wonder where Riscitelli in particular fits into the Glads title defence plans. The Gladiators have built a tremendous foundation around tackles. Ball, Priddis and co are absolutely top shelf. Riscitelli was shopped around by the Lions and is clearly not part of Voss' plans. Mayne needs to ensure he is in the starting 22.

Cracker! Greg Broughton (Fremantle) @ 3, Bradd Dalziell (West Coast) @ 5.
I rated both of these as potential number one picks. To get them at picks 3 and 5 shows how good Croz is!

    List Snapshot
I suspect the Gladiators will be as dominant in 2010 as they were in the latter stages of 2009. Croz builds his list around high tackles and goals and that wont change this year. When you add one little Gary to the mix, well...you get genuine class. a fine list that has been strengthened significantly by this years drafting. I suspect this years list is better than last years...and thats a little scary.

Premiership Clock (in 'Premiership contention' being 12, 'total rebuild needed' being 6ish, 'nearing competitive and on the up' being 9ish, 'past it with decisions to be made' being 3ish)
    12.05am
Coming off a flag, I suggest we should be very fearful of another dose of Gladiator scourge in 2010. He will be right in the mix. His time is right now.

    Overall rank: 1-2

    Heroes

    List Grade pre PSD: C+
    Drafting 2010: D

    What the?:
Well, where do I start? The computer generated picking has proved to be rather catastrophic in my opinion.
Byron Schammer (Fre) @ 2, Jay Neagle (Essendon) @ 5, Micheal Newton (Melb) @ 9, Justin Westhoff (Port Power) @ 11
I have never seen a poorer batch of players added to a list than I witnessed last night. I hope Andy has a sense of humour (as I know he has) because I cannot believe how insipid these selections are. Neagle in particular is an absolute powder puff.

    Cracker!
    Gary Rohan (Syd) @ 26
I would have loved to have seen more inspired selections like this one from the Heroes. Rohan offers hope to the Heroes as he is a ball winner, powerful and a beautifully balanced footballer. He is however a bloodnut.

    List Snapshot

The Heroes are a fragment of what they once where. Nicholas Riewoldt has a power of work to do in 2010 in order to keep this boat afloat. I suspect Heath Shaw, Joel Corey and Bernie Vince will cause opposition coaches some pain, but heaven help this proud warrior if any one of his guns goes down. You'd be hard fucking pressed to find a weaker bunch of second rowers than Neagle, Westhoff and co!

Nice work Macca. I have to have a sense of humour with my lot. However, i will continue to fight tooth and nail to keep my head above water. My thanks got\ to Croz for his efforts in getting me a list. I do question what happened to my early preference for Trengrove, Martin, Scully etc. I wonder why two of those players ended up on your list! It smells a lot like PLUNKETT!

    Maulers

    List Grade pre PSD: B+
    Drafting 2010: B+

    What the?:
    Daniel Kerr (WCE) @ 1
    Kieran Jack (Sydney) @ 8

This may cause some conjecture but I genuinely feel Kerr is over rated in our game. Over the last five years, he has averaged above 22 possessions once. I do not believe he warrants a first round selection...regardless of how good he is in the real game.
Jack is a concern to me for the simple fact that Paul Roos has added genuine class to his midfield in the last few years. Gary Rohan is a good example of the type of player that may cause Jack to be flicked to the reserves.

    Cracker!
    Michael Hurley (Essendon) @ 5
Congratulations! This kid will be a superstar...a mountain of a man and just so mobile. I suspect we will all rue not grabbing him earlier.

    List Snapshot

The Maulers are in terrific shape. A great mix of specialty (Goodwin, Cornes, Mackie, Thompson, Cloke, Jolly etc) and x factor (Rioli, Masten, Cooney, Sewell). This list is just about perfectly set for a flag tilt.
I love the depth here also. Players like Seaby, Wells and Tuck will provide great support to the preferred starters.

You nominated that you wanted an All Star in 1st round and the ONLY All Star left on your list was Boom Boom Schammer. You should have put down more All Stars.

As far as your early preference for Trengrove, Martin, Scully etc. The number '1' possie players were done at random using the Excel random feature.

    Rnd 1 you retained
Rnd 2 you asked for an All Star - Schammer (#2 type All Star and the ONLY All Star you had left on your list)
Rnd 3 you asked for a marker - Jason Blake (#1 type marker)
    Rnd 4 you retained
Rnd 5 you asked for a tackler - Jay Neagle (#1 type tackler)
    Rnd 6 you retained
Rnd 7 you asked for goal kicker - Amon Buchanan (#1 type goal kicker)
Rnd 8 you asked for a tackler - Jarrad McVeigh
Rnd 9 you finally asked for a possie player and received a tackler - Michael Newton. I am not sure what happened there...I was going off what I was being told to pick for you off another member of our league.

    I did try.

Trengove went Rnd 4 and Scully & Martin went in 5

    What the?:
Heath Scotland (Carlton) @ 4, Henry Slattery (Essendon) @ 17

I would be very surprised if Scotland's career wasn't all but doomed when Brock McLean was traded to Carlton. Not because they are similar, which they are not, but simply because Carlton has a wealth of midfielders punctuated by the fact that a couple of them, Gibbs and Murphy, are almost at the peak of their powers. Scotland will become redundant I believe. Slattery is an out and out hack...simple.

    Cracker!
Paul Duffield (@6), Justin Sherman (@ 12), Dean Polo (@ 30) and Matthew Broadbent (@ 32) represent great value in my opinion. Duffield looks to be a terrific fantasy player, never to be tagged and a real outside midfield or half back. Sherman was better in 2009, whilst I suspect Polo and Broadbent will rise significantly in weak midfields at Richmond and Port. Some nice work there girls!

    List Snapshot

I really like what the girls have put together. They have strong depth with possession players, good markers and a couple of bona fide guns in JB, Judd and the emergent Brent Prismall. The middle tier worries me somewhat.

    Raptors

    List Grade pre PSD: C+
    Drafting 2010: A+

    What the?
I honestly can't find a player drafted that seems over the odds.
Either Evan has got a good contact or he has done some terrific research. The blend of young guns and ready to go specialists is really quite outstanding, as much as I hate to admit it!

    Cracker!
Dustin Martin (Richmond) @ 5, Richard Tambling (Richmond) @ 6, Stephen Hill (Fremantle) @ 8, Liam Shiels (Hawthorn) @ 11
Martin is a hard nosed midfielder who will be terrific for the Tigers and the Raptors, Tambling I rated as a third round pick and I would have grabbed him if Gilbert was not available at 3. Tambling is ready to explode for mine...he looks ready to arrive. Hill is interesting...as he has been slammed as being too light. Well, not any more! He is now strong and ready to smash in. Shiels is a project but boy has he got some great attributes; hard, fit and very highly rated at Hawthorn. terrific drafting my the wily sneaky bastard!

    List Snapshot

The Raptors may well be back! They had some good players last year in Swan, SJ, Carrazzo and Boyd, which they now add some steely youngsters and some very good 22-26 year olds. I think the mix is just about right now. I was very bullish about (what I perceived as) Evan's poor drafting drafting in 2009. I am equally impressed in 2010.
I see no reason why he wont go deep into finals in 2010.

    Spartans

List Grade pre PSD: B -
    Drafting 2010: B

    What the?
    Shane O'Bree (Collingwood) @ 2
    Robert Warnock (Carlton) @ 4

I realise that Jase is is his own biggest critic, so he will probably be very cognizant of this, but O'Bree at 2 was a clanger. O'Bree is in decline, yes his numbers are okay, but the arrival of Luke Ball spells the death knell for the old warrior. His body has been smashed and now that Collingwood has a midfield he will slip gently into the night I guarantee it. Derek Hine deliberately traded heavily for Ball knowing the inevitable had arrived. Given the other players on offer at pick 2, this was, for mine, the worst pick (barring Andy's computer generated guff) of 2009. Warnock has much to prove and regardless of talent was 'over the odds' at pick 4. I think Jase jumped in trying to fill a ruck void regardless of what else was available.

    Cracker!
    James Kelly (Geelong) @ 7, Josh P Kennedy (Sydney) @ 9, Rory Sloane (Adelaide) @ 19, Jordy Gysberts (Melbourne) @ 31
Despite Jase's poor early drafting, he has much to be happy about after that.
Kelly is a proven performer in the midfield and I suspect his best will be delivered as Bartel and co decline. JPK is the bolter here! I rated him a third round pick and really tossed up between him and Tom Scully at 5. I think Sydneys game plan will be right up his alley...I expect massive tackle returns in 2010. Sloane and Gysberts are projects of terrific quality. Neil Craig and Stephen Schwerdt were truly glowing in their opinions of Sloane, whilst Gysberts will be a great player across half back at demonland.

    List Snapshot

I had the feeling that the Spartans would be a genuine force in 2010, and I have to admit I now doubt that. I think they will be very competitive, but truly believe they missed the train by failing to grab genuine class in the early picks of 2010. That said, I still expect them right in the mix, given the prospects of Gibbs, Murphy, Cotchin and Dangerfield all pushing the envelope that bit harder in 2010. I suspect he will be very inconsistent...but the direction is certainly on course!

    Terriers

    List Grade pre PSD: C
    Drafting 2010: B

    What the?
    Brett Burton (Adelaide) @ 3
    Brad Fisher (Carlton) @ 11

I think the Burton choice was a relatively sound one on numbers, yet a genuinely poor one when you consider that he is in significant decline at the Crows. There is simply no chance of him getting better at his age and his constant soft tissue injury status is a worry. It smacks of desperation to fill the goalkicking void and I suspect disappointment is imminent. Fisher is a crab of the highest order and like Burton I am presuming Gerry is hoping the Fev-less Blues will use him in the key post. Matthew Kruezer says no to this.

    Cracker!
    Brad Ebert (WCE) @ 8
    Ben Cunnington (NM) @ 19
Trent Dennis Lane (Sydney) @ 27

Ebert represents terrific value for the small dogs in 2010. A tackling midfielder who only lacks genuine leg speed, I expect his outputs to increase this year. He is capable of some huge tackle numbers. Cunnington has been a TAC cup star and was a genuine line breaker in the Under 18 Australian Champs. He is tall, evasive and very skilled. I suspect Brad Scott will be keen to throw him straight into the midfield, maybe on a wing, given that his midfield is a little ineffective.
In contrast to the Burton and Fisher picks, Dennis-Lane is a pick of some astuteness by the wily donkey. He has a history of mini goal hauls in the WAFL and I wouldn't be surprised if TDL proves to be a genuinely savvy choice.

    List Snapshot

On paper, the Terriers look more than competitive. They have added some steel in Daniel Cross, have genuine stars in Goddard and Didak. In fact, all categories look to have more depth than this time last year. I suspect that Ling will be an inspired choice as he is now Geelong's captain. Matthew Bate, in my opinion, could prove to be a genuine breakout player in 2010, despite his red hair.
The one problem I see in this lineup is that many players do a 'bit of this and a bit of that', which can be very confusing to manipulate on a weekly basis. Regardless of this, I see an improvement.

Premiership Clock (in 'Premiership contention' being 12, 'total rebuild needed' being 6ish, 'nearing competitive and on the up' being 9ish, 'past it with decisions to be made' being 3ish)
He is on the improve and I would have the Terriers somewhere near 10.30 pm.
The trick now is patience with players like Cunnington and TDL.

Oh absolutely, Burton is a stop-gap (I picked Lonegan in the same place last year). Desperation? You betcha!
If he does what he did today, I will be happy.
Fisher I picked more as a marker - if he goes forward, great.
I think we will improve this year - trouble, I think other teams will also improve.
All I need is to reverse my usual poor start and then I am in with a chance.
I am hoping for 3-2 after five rounds.

Only one I cant agree with is Dean 'Cheetah' Polo. I dont see him troubling too many FF teams. Will get the occasional big score but one of those players that I freakin' hate.... INCONSISTENT.

Scotland..well yes, couldnt agree more. I think I squeezed out as many games as possible from him before he dwindles away into Fantasy Footy Oblivion.

    Next please....

I agree with Croz a good read and appreciate the effort and time to go through people's lists. Even if I dont agree with it all, especially on my team. Ive said this before but what some teams consider a good player can differ to what other teams think purely based on a teams needs.

Now consider this, last season I was 10th in tackles and 10 out of 12 teams is deplorable. I had only one retained player, Clinton Jones who can play tackles and he only avg 4.8 last season.

So as a short term fix I drafted O'Bree, who has been a consistent tackler for a long time. Yes he is 31 and has seen his best days, but I dont think he is past it and his top 10 finish last season with Collingwood proves that. Long term I drafted young players like Josh Kennedy (21 yrs old), Aaron Joseph(20), Rory Sloane (20) & Adam Cockie(20). All of which could become excellent tacklers. If I felt my team was ready to challenge the top teams then I might have drafted differently.

I honestly think that my team is still another year away from really competing for a top 4 position. When you look at players like Dayne Beams, Patrick Dangerfield, Lachlan Hansen and Trent Cotchin (just to name a few) you cant rely on them week in week out. Yes they have a ton of talent, but they are in the 2nd or 3rd years and are not consistent enough to pencil into your team as starters. However I hop this season they turn the corner and develop into the players I need them to be.

    Hmmm...maybe you are the seer.
Although that's like predicting it could be hot next week.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

•The Greeks by far have the bravest soldiers. In World War II, Italy came to take over Greece and could not do it, a country with 10 times the army. They had to call in Germany for help. After 10 months of fighting they finally took control of Greece [FYI: took them 40 days to take over France]. Germans were stuck on Crete for 6 months and could not take control of the island because kids as well as older people were stabbing the parachute troopers as they were coming down. Only island that has never been conquered. Because of this LONG delay [10 months], it forced Germany to enter Russia in the winter ... and you all know what happened. Germany lost the war. So when it comes to courage, passion and having heart I would say Greece, hands down.
