Changest to Sub-clause 3.2 Pre-season draft picks
Based on discussions in the "Instructions for picking pre-season draft order" post, here are my suggested changes:
Version 1 - pick order depending solely on reverse premiership order.
Version 2 - pick order determined by choice of coaches in reverse premiership order.
Version 3 - pick order determined by choice of coaches in reverse premiership order.
Note: lots of changes here.
Reason:
[1] The AGM is now online and so we need a different system of choosing pick order.
[3] This is to reflect what happened in 2009.

[1]The drawing of draft picks will occur at as part the Annual General Meeting or by the proposed cut-off date to uptake picks. Draft picks shall be placed in 12 sealed & unmarked envelopes and given out at the meeting..The order forreceivingthese picks shall be determined by the finishing position of each team at the end of the previous season. The bottom placed team shall have 1st selection, followed by 11th through to reigning premier. The choice to take draft picks is made completely by the team owner/s and should not be deemed compulsory until the cut-off date to uptake picks.[2] Any team not present at the AGM shall forgo their pick order and receive theirs after all other picks have been received.[3][2]The cut-off time for the trading of Pre-Season Draft Picks shall be determined by the ASFFL Executive.. There shall be no trading of Pre-Season Draft Picks.
Version 2 - pick order determined by choice of coaches in reverse premiership order.

Re: Changest to Sub-clause 3.2 Pre-season draft picks
Gerry, can we have a version 3 (Yes, I should have picked this up earlier) that gives the other option of accepting the "The team placed last in the previous year will also be able choose the actual pick number(1-12). The second last team will then choose the next actual pick number from the picks that are left. This will continue until there is one pick number left and this will be the premier's pick." but NOT agreeing with abolishing the trading of daft picks?

That's fine.
Sorry, that "trading picks" clause was a bit of a sleeper.

Re: Changest to Sub-clause 3.2 Pre-season draft picks
I think that if we can succesfully trade during the season on this forum, we can trade draft picks.
If coaches choose to snooze over the summer, thats their problem.
Shouldnt the successful teams come from those that work hard at it? And then there is the luck factor.....

Re: Changest to Sub-clause 3.2 Pre-season draft picks
Luck? There is no luck in this game.
I couldn't find any in 2009.
But yes, agreed again XB!

Re: Changest to Sub-clause 3.2 Pre-season draft picks
there is an even amount of luck spread throughout the league.
Where 1 team gets 'raped'...another team has the sun shine on their arse all year.
I can think of 2 teams that fit this situation!

What worries me most is that certain teams...er..nah stuff it...Warthogs get all the bloody luck!

I hesitated only because it will have to be done online (rather than in person as has been done in previous years).
I threw your name into the hat as the person who has to deal with all this.
I am not sure how it could be done online without getting messy - but I am willing to have a go!

How will it get messy?

Do you remember the knots that Croz tied himself in when we did it on paper?
Just trying to keep up was a nightmare. It would be much harder to follow online unless Croz has some sort of super-dupa spreadsheet/database system.

You are talking about Croz here!
He will eat it up.
All we need to do is ensure he can keep up by keeping the thread open to only trades and their confirmation!

Thanks for the affirmation, Macca.
Gerry, you are correct...it may turn into a logistical nightmare, but I am willing to give it a go.

Re: Changest to Sub-clause 3.2 Pre-season draft picks
Thats great news, as trading draft picks adds another dimension to the game. One that encourages people to be more active, as its in their best interests.

What we need is strict rules about how trades are formatted/announced in that forum.
What Croz wont want is the associated waffle ("what the fuck were you thinking"..."you got r@p3d!!" ..."I would have offered better").
How do you want it set up Ken Obsby?

I agree you want to save the mocking for another thread. But isnt that what happened this season? Sure we had a few people post in the trading threads, but it wasnt many.
