My first analysis of the Finals Teams Empty My first analysis of the Finals Teams

I have taken the teams named for the preliminary finals and found their 2012 and career averages in each category.
Interesting reading.

Of course, this says nothing about how they are going to perform on the day but...

Tomorrow...how have these players gone against their AFL Round 23 opposition?

Wow Gerry love ya work.

Interesting that both teams avg for 2012 is well below what we avg'd for the season. But 363 vs 359 does indicate that it could be a cracking GF.

My first analysis of the Finals Teams Empty Part 2 ASSFL Grand Final players v their AFL Opposition

Post by Guest Tue Aug 28, 2012 1:06 pm

In this analysis, I have added the most recent stats for each player against their Round 23 opposition in the most recent game.

Whilst Vipers win on goals, Ridgebacks look VERY dangerous in tackles. Also, SWWWWAAAANNNN! (Ahem)

BTW This was one of my favourite 'reports' as Statistical Engineer for the Assassins - lot of good that did! Mad

Next - I will wait for the actual teams to be picked and make my final, canny predictions for their score.

Now what does the magic black ball say:

Ridgebacks: "It is decidedly so!"

Vipers: "Yes, definitely!"

Stupid ball! Arrow

I doubt Lenny Hayes will play.
Ben Howlett should play.

I'd find a way to squeeze Pavlich in if he is available.

But...great work Gez!

Look forward to the next installment.

So I guess that settles who should be the favourite. Looks like the premiership is yours to lose Macca

Thanks for doing this Gerry, it has been very interesting to see some detailed stats on the 2 teams. Will be good to see your analysis of the teams once they are selected.

The weekend looms large!
Tomorrow is a huge day...critical outs (resting by AFL) will play a part.
I will put my house on key Ridgees being out.

I read tonight that Nth Melb plan on playing all their guns, so hopefully Swallow and Petrie play.

But I think the team im most worried about is the Saints. I wont be surprised to see Hayes, Montagna & Jones all out this week.

Why would Montagna be out?
Hayes was subbed last week with an injury.
Jones has played 3 weeks in the VFl and is most likely in.

Hayes out.
Other two in...that'd be effen right!

I hope he does play, but who knows what they will do since they have nothing to gain by playing a full strength team.

On the AFL website:

The Saints have gone for a bit of a youth push since they were ruled out from the finals series and there is a possibility that could be extended this week to include Daniel Markworth and Sam Crocker, who may be in line to make their senior debuts in St Kilda's season finale.

Gerry, Gibbs will never play for the Vipers again so I could live with that. Murphy on the other hand would hurt.
