First Round of Finals - Scores to Saturday night
Ridgeback 212 (6 players to go) v Terriers 257 (4 players to go) - this is not over yet.
Raptors 270 (7 players to go) v Warthogs 194 (8 players to go ) - again, too close to call.
Bangers 257 (5 players to go) v Maulers 246 (6 players to go) - this is a recording
Spartans 211 (7 players to go) v Gladiators 248 (6 players to go) - Gladiators have called this a win.
Not sure if this is helpful but, clearly, Sunday's games are crucial.

Hayes needs 100 to make our game interesting Gerry.
It most certainly is over.

Surely the 'Tea Sipping Hippee' couldn't be a dual premiership coach.

He may well be...yes.
Given he has Cross, Hodge and Goddard I will be claiming it as my own.

A factor could be that I don't make substitutions for players that are out until Sunday.
So you may have included points for substituted players.
However, some are a concern - eg the Maulers, Gladiators scores.

Ridgebacks 212 - did you add the HGA?
Raptors 270 - oh, oh! HGA the difference again?
Bangers 257 - reoccuring theme here.
However, Maulers 195 - is correct. I put the wrong Scott Thompson in, again!
Spartans - again, don't forget HGA. I haven't substitued Hentschel yet. Maybe that makes a difference.
Gladiators - I haven't substituted Barlow or Morton as yet. That should make up the difference.

My tackle count is hiding my poor goal-kickers (one between two lumps) and markers (total of eight).
This week, the Ridgies haven't done much better in goals. Ridgeback markers haven't even played yet.
So premiership talk is premature (Andy?) and even this week's outcome is still in the balance.
All it needs is a blinder from Lenny, and I am stuffed.

Re: First Round of Finals - Scores to Saturday night
Yeah...me calling a victory on Saturday night was just dumb.
Montagna still hasnt played. Riewoldt could kick a bag against the 1.3 that my goal kickers kicked combined.
Cox!? anyone want Cox?? wanker.
Damn red wine!

My team has done about as much as it can and is sitting on 371.
It's all up to the Ridgebacks now.

Re: First Round of Finals - Scores to Saturday night
I have you on 374.
BTW: Robert Murphy out.
So...in the week leading up to this round I lost both my starting markers and both my starting goal kickers.
What next!!??

Re: First Round of Finals - Scores to Saturday night
No offence Croz but I would hardly be complaining about your luck.
Yes both your markers were out but in comes Hannebery who is avg 4.8 marks a game this year and gets 8. Then comes in Redden who is avg 5.4 and gets 7. Not to mention the fact that I have one of my markers out with injury in the first qtr.
And yes your goal kickers have hurt you, but Luke Ball with his 2nd highest ever tackle count has negated that this week.

Re: First Round of Finals - Scores to Saturday night
Yes, probably not the time to complain...(although I have not once complained about playing teams each week who have mega scores against me and send me to 7th)
For the record...Ben Johnson was my 2nd reserve marker, not Hanneberry. Johnson got 3.
Yeah, that sucked about Ben Reid going down after 4 minutes. That is one of those areas in our game where we cant do anything about it substitution-wise. I guess I was 'lucky' that my markers were ruled out before which gave me the opportunity to replace them. Not sure what the solution is there.
You will probably agree right now that this game can suck arse sometimes.

Wow...some close games with 1/2 a game to go.
Ridgebacks need 50 possessions to win between Griffen and Vince (both on 12), assuming Cross doesnt reach 55 All Star Points (12pts to 1/2 time).
Also assuming that I have a correct score of 374 for Terriers.
Raptors and Warthogs are obviously the Crows and Bulldogs specialists as both have 5 players each in this last game. Close, but I am calling a Raptors victory.
Bangers 319 (Stevens in marks) are being chased down by Scott Thompson (54 All Star points to 1/2 time), Cooney, Van Berlo and Walker. Maulers on 257 before start of last game.

Yup sorry my bad, for some reason I though Hanneberry was your 2nd reserve

Yes I found this year's loss much harder to swallow than last year where I was also lost in the first round of the finals. Not because I was playing a injury riddled Glads team but because 3 weeks ago my team was avg 395+ for a 6 week period. I honestly never had high hopes for this year but thanks to that 6 week period I thought I was hitting form at the right end of the season. Oh well theres always next year.

Nah, Terriers have me covered...Griffen and Vince wont get 15 between them in the last quarter in this weather.
Griffen only had 4 in the 3rd.
Thing is, I have probably had the more even performance but Ling and Howletts 23 tackles will mean you need some extraordinary performances...which my mob couldn't muster.
Congratulations Gez, you work bloody hard in this game and I cannot begrudge you some terrific luck with those tackle scores.
Box seat for you now.

Ridgebacks have officially conceded and therefore I announce that the Terriers have won. Congratulations, Gerry.
Man, Vince killed you in the last 1/4.

Bullshit, although the HGA played a part.
As I said, the large tackle count hid huge holes in the rest of my team.
I didn't watch the stats after half time of the Crows game. Looks like Vince had a blinder in the last. Where did you get him from? (Heroeeees! )
I think I play the Maulers next week - so those holes will need some super plaster or else I am out in straight sets.

Macca, I have had him for the last two years.
It has been my experience that he goes missing in big games. He had 20 touches in the last game against Geelong.
His form in the last three weeks has been fantastic - and I think that he may have shaken off that tag, but I couldn't take the chance.
He is back in the team against the Maulers but only as a possession player.

Re: First Round of Finals - Scores to Saturday night
Yes, and the thing is...as his coach, you do know him best...his ebbs and flows.
BUT, he is a confidence player who just realised he can take on and beat anyone. He is playing with rare bravado. He is playing with the agility of a cat and in my mind is a poofteenth away from being absolute elite.
I would have him in AS...Cross in possies.
But...your call.
